The ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM of GIRBAU, S.A. has been validated with ISO 14001 Certificate.

So that, the Environmental Management of GIRBAU, S.A. is a commitment to continually improve our environment and shows itself with the introduction of an ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, which includes the realisation of periodic evaluations in order to test, document and permanently improve the running of the company.

After a period of 3 years of an extensive work of internal awareness with the advise of the ICT-CTOR (Technological Catalan Institute - Technological Centre of Osona and the Ripollés (Barcelona - SPAIN)), besides some important improvements in the manufacturing process, GIRBAU, S.A. has passed with success the audit, obtaining the certification ISO 14001 in Feb. 13, 2001, this certification confirms the excellence of the ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM implanted in GIRBAU, S.A.

EMAS certification is one of the most exigent certifications in terms of respecting the environment.

In February 2004, Girbau received the decision which certifies their adherence to the community's environmental management and auditing scheme.

The objective of this Community Eco-Management and Auditing Scheme (EMAS) system is to promote continual improvements in the environmental activities of all European organizations and the distribution of pertinent information to the public and other interested parties.

To be included within the EMAS register, the company must comply with the following requirements:
  • Retain an environmental policy
  • Carry out an environmental analysis of its activities, products and services
  • Employ an Environmental Management System
  • Make periodic audits
  • Make periodic Environmental Statements which must be registered with an official body and put at the disposition of the public.
